Need some good Bible Study Software. Here are my recommendations and reviews.
The Best Free Bible Software
e-Sword (www.e-sword.net)
If you could create a simple to use Bible Study program you would want to have a number of good translations including both Hebrew and Greek, as well as foriegn language translations for our Internation friends. You would also want some good scholarly and devotional commentaries. And then you would want to throw in a vew dictionaries for both English and Biblical Languages. Add the ability to add your own content including notes and topical works and you have a nice program. How much would it cost? At least $100 but more likely closer to $200 or more if it had a lot of each of the above categories.
The amazing thing is that one of the best Bible Study programs available is also free. Go download it and load it up with translations, commentaries, dictionaries, and maps. Prepare a good personal bible reading plan and add some devotional books. The go to www.yahoogroups.com and search for groups related to e-Sword and you will find a large community of people who have not only helped one another become proficient in using e-Sword, but have also created a lot of free resources.
e-Sword is not perfect. You will have a hard time finding more modern translations. Some are available but for a fee. Also, it is not as easy to do original language study in e-Sword as it is in other programs. But the price is right and Rick Meyers is always working on his gem. Check it out!
